Making Connections
Every two years Transit Workforce Center (TWC) hosts the Making Connections Conference! Making Connections is a national conference dedicated to workforce development in the public transportation industry. It provides attendees the opportunity to gain fresh insights, skills, and perspectives on critical transit workforce development topics, while connecting with a diverse network of transit agencies, unions, nonprofits, government officials, educators, and workforce development organizations.
Making Connections 2024
Making Connections 2024 (MC24) is the second since TWC’s launch in 2021. Building on the success of Making Connections 2022 (MC22, MC24 was hosted in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor November 12-13, MC24 provided a forum for over 450 attendees, ranging from transit CEOs to frontline workers, to explore collaborative and creative workforce development initiatives across the industry. Highlights included a keynote address by Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA) Deputy Administrator Veronica Vanterpool and over twenty-five interactive sessions addressing critical transit workforce development needs aligned with FTA’s Transit Workforce Development Strategic Plan.
Making Connections 2022
Making Connections 2022 (MC22) is the the first since TWC’s launch in 2021. Hosted mid-December of 2022 in Washington, D.C. with over 350 attendees, including transit stakeholders representing labor, management, government, nonprofit, workforce development, and educational organizations. MC22 featured workshops and plenaries that produced lively exchanges and dialogue on recruitment, retention, training, mentoring and apprenticeships, career pathways, labor-management, external partnerships, and transitioning to new technologies.
